SCALE 9
SYSTEMIC TOXICITY
CONTENTS
EXPLANATION
Systemic toxicity is one of the most common etiological
factors in the Cayce readings. The readings often used the expression
poor eliminations when discussing systemic toxicity. Of the four
primary processes of elimination (defecation, urination, respiration, and
perspiration), the readings observed that 85% of the toxins are normally
eliminated through the bowel. When the bowel becomes deficient in
this activity (i.e., constipation), the other channels of elimination must
increase their activity to cleanse the body of toxins. Failure of
any of the other eliminating processes will lead to some degree of systemic
toxicity.
THERAPEUTIC OPTIONS
MANUAL THERAPY
Edgar Cayce often recommended osteopathic treatment
to improve eliminations by setting up drainages throughout the body.
HYDROTHERAPY AND PACKS
Colonic irrigation (preferred) or enema is a common
treatment for systemic toxicity. Fume baths (with an oil such as
witchhazel) is recommended. Castor oil packs over the right side
of the abdomen is also helpful to stimulate the liver and bowel.
Drinking 6 - 8 glasses of pure water is encouraged.
DIET
The basic Cayce diet consisting primarily of fruits
and vegetables is important for decreasing systemic toxicity.
