SCALE 22
AFTER EFFECTS OF INTESTINAL FLU

CONTENTS

EXPLANATION

Edgar Cayce sometimes cited the after effects of flu as a primary factor in intestinal disturbances.  One hundred and three readings are indexed as flu after effects.  Actually, Cayce sometimes included cold and congestion as etiological factors in this class of disorders.  The essential pattern is one of infectious agents settling in the system, especially in the intestinal tract.  Colitis (now called irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease) is the result.

Treatment recommendations varied depending upon symptomatic manifestations.  A tonic consisting of ginseng root, ginger root, stillingia, and lactated pepsin was a typical treatment.  Abdominal packs and hydrotherapy were also frequently recommended.

THERAPEUTIC OPTIONS

MEDICINE

A tonic consisting of ginseng root, ginger root, stillingia, and lactated pepsin is the most frequent medicine for the after effects of intestinal flu.  Small broken doses of olive oil may be helpful for diarrhea.  A mild laxative may be helpful if constipation is a problem.  Eno salts was the most common recommendations in readings for this pattern.

HYDROTHERAPY AND PACKS

Colonic irrigation may be helpful to cleanse the lower bowel.  Colonics are contra-indicated for ulcerative colitis.  Abdominal grape packs may be helpful for symptomatic relief of abdominal pain.
