SCALE 19
HYPOADRENAL

CONTENTS

EXPLANATION

The adrenals are major endocrine glands located above the kidneys.  Consisting of a medulla (sympathetic) and cortex (endocrine), the adrenal glands are active in a wide variety of systemic processes involving metabolism, anti-inflammatory agents, emotional states, etc.

Hypoadrenal is sometimes linked to chronic fatigue, depression, impaired cognitive functioning, and digestive problems.

THERAPEUTIC OPTIONS

ATOMIDINE

Atomidine is a commercial product which is sold as an antiseptic for cuts, sores, infections, insect bites, and skin rashes.  However, Atomidine is also often taken internally in minute doses as recommended by Edgar Cayce as a glandular stimulant and purifier. Atomidine contains 1% iodine trichloride and other unlisted ingredients.

Edgar Cayce stated that Atomidine "will increase the flow of secretions or activities in the glands of the system (as related to the ductless) ..." [411-1]   It is used for treating a wide variety of conditions related to glandular problems, including adrenal dysfunction.

Since Atomidine contains iodine, when taken internally, it can over-stimulate the thyroid gland and heart. Edgar Cayce recommended that Atomidine be taken under the supervision of a physician.

MANUAL THERAPY

Reading 2789-1 recommended osteopathic treatment to the lower dorsal (thoracic) and lumbar vertebrae while coordinating the treatment with other major centers along the spine.  The 9th dorsal vertebrae area was specifically associated with the adrenal in several readings.

JERUSALEM ARTICHOKE

Jerusalem artichoke is a root vegetable resembling a small potato.  Eaten uncooked or steamed in its own juices, Jerusalem artichoke was recommended by Edgar Cayce in several readings to improve adrenal gland and general hepatic functioning.

WITCHHAZEL FUMES AND MASSAGE

A witchhazel fume bath and massage were recommended in reading 3098-1 to improve adrenal function.  During the massage, special attention should be given to the 9th and 10th  thoracic (dorsal) area.
